Unit 4 | P7 | Business Communication

Electronic method of communication
Electronic method of communication means that it has some sort of connection to the internet, or the data is being transmitted digitally. Examples: text messages, emails, social media, voice memos etc.

Non-electronic method of communication
Non-electronic method of communications means that it is in no way connected to the internet, otherwise the information is being transmitted using offline services. Examples: post, leaflets, billboards etc.

Look at how an organisation uses electronic and non-electronic communication and write a short report of the findings
The way Apple uses both online and offline marketing to promote their products are very efficient, and it can be perceived that there is a good amount of planning done behind the scenes. For example, when the new Apple iPhone 7 (and 7 Plus) was close to being released, they started Tweeting small sneak peaks of the device to make fans go crazy – and of course, to generate a hype, which leads to the purchase of the device. Now obviously, with this new phone not having the feature of the headphone jack connector, Apple had to think of very strong ways to market their new device, because not all of the Apple fans were intrigued by the removal of this very general - and needed feature. Apple uses social media as a very strong marketing platform, because today it is not only used by teenagers, but elder people as well. Apple also uses offline marketing methods to promote their products / services very strongly. For this purpose they use billboards, posters and signs too in busy places.

Electronic

Advantages: can reach a much wider audience, it is quicker, more modern, much cheaper, become the main form of communication, most business prefer it over non-electronic as there are a lot of methods to reach a wider audience, quicker, easier and sometimes cheaper.

Disadvantages: might reach 75% of target audience but what about that 25% that not yet switched to electronic, can sometimes be more expensive, etc.

Non-electronic
Advantages: can reach the audience that not yet switched to electronic, loads of choices, it is sometimes easier to spread the word using verbal communication methods, and some people still prefer to meet in person and talk about things rather than going on Face Time from their bed to discuss what happened with them in the last week.

Disadvantages: not many people like getting leaflets through the post, they are less likely to accept it in person if given to them, print can sometimes be expensive, etc.
